Speech Outline

Purpose- To evoke emotion out of the audience and make them want to support St. Jude by donating money Thesis- St. Jude wants the audience to feel sympathy for the patients and donate to the hospital because of it Setting- The commercial was shoot inside the hospital with children who are suffering from cancer. They also showed some of the children in their beds or rooms and connected to different types of machines. Characters- The commercial used celebrity endorsement to help convey their point. They used not only one but four different celebrities all who have different backgrounds and fanbases. They also emphasized the children themselves who suffer from cancer. They showed the children when they are not in the best shape. Like I previously stated they were in their beds and hooked up to the machines.  Music- Soft sad music played quietly in the background. Commercial Analysis

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXhqx2F2C8I For my speech, I chose to to use a St. Jude commercial where they had celebrity endorsements by Jennifer Aniston, Jimmy Kimmel and others. The purpose of this commercial was to play with the audiences emotions in order for them to gain support for this cause. In order to do this, the authors used a great deal of pathos in order for the audience to feel sympathetic for not only the children going through this but, also the families and how they are affected. In the commercial they included real kids with cancer in order to evoke emotion and they also showed them in the hospital setting with their parents. In this commercial, their audience was more aimed towards parents and trying to get them to donate. The language used in the commercial was talking from their perspective and what it would be like if their child couldn't do normal kid things because of cancer.
